EERAdata Community Platform

EERAdata provides a community platform as an open support tool for the low-carbon energy research community. The EERAdata Community Platform offers systematic access to distributed data and offers services to make such data FAIR and Open.

The EERAdata Community Platform is a low-barrier entry point to a wide range of distributed data sources, both for users and providers of low-carbon energy research data. It supports the community with services to improve findability, accessibility, interoperability, re-usability and openness of data in energy research (FAIR and Open Data).

Energy data providers and users benefit from the EERAdata Community Platform in various ways:

  1. Fast and easy (re)search of data and metadata. Conceived as a single database entity providing systematic access to external repositories, the platform allows to search for data and get access to a variety of resources held by cooperating database providers linked to the platform.
  2. Facilitated interoperability of data and metadata from different energy domains. The platform fosters the use of joint ontologies, metadata standards and FAIR assessment criteria, by providing technical support tools to improve on the FAIR and Open Data principles.
  3. Integrated new research datasets available on open data repositories. The platform is designed in compliance with the rules of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative and is eligible as a service provider on the EOSC portal.

The platform is implemented and continuously adapted using standard, open-source software, while employing lean web technologies to facilitate future machine-actionability.

A discussion forum is embedded in the platform to facilitate the development of harmonized use case-specific metadata, as well as the exchange of general knowledge with the wider low carbon energy community.
